Digital cameras, HD movie important?
I’m looking at getting a new digital camera, and I do plan to take video with it, although they won’t actually ever be played on an HD television as we don’t have them at school to work with.
I was wondering if the HD movie feature really matters, does HD movie on a digital camera really look that much better than a regular movie saved as an AVI file ?

There are two standards for HD video in the P&S and dSLR arena. Full HD (1920 x 1080) and standard HD (1280 x 720) .
Since you are primarily a still shooter, it may not be necessary to spend more on a camera to have any of the HD features
tits. i mean no.
It only really maters if you are going to play the movie on an HD monitor or television. You will see a difference, though if the image is blow up. Think you some YouTube videos look okay when they are viewed small but look very grainy/noisy when they are taken full screen.
not too much difference
