Do you think an HD FLIP camcorder is a good choice?

I want a camcorder that can shoot in HD for youtube vlogging.
I don’t want something really super expensive, so is this a good choice? Any other suggestions?

  1. I own a Flip UltraHD (received as a gift). It does what it’s supposed to do but for a much better camera for less money consider the Kodak Zi8:

    128GB of internal memory and can use memory cards (Flips 4 or 8GB and cannot use cards)
    Takes 5.3MP still images (Flips can’t take stills)
    Charges with an A/C power adapter (Flips must use a USB source)
    Has a input for an external microphone (Flips: nope)

    Everything else between the two cam is the same (720p HD, internal video program, size, etc.)

    Kodak Zi8 about $130.00
    Flip UltraHD (8GB) about $180.00

  2. Yeah it’s a great choice. I got the Flip Ultra HD last year and it works wonderfully and takes pretty decent HD video for YouTube. It’s also sooooo small and convenient. Another good camera for vlogging is the Sony Webbie HD.

  3. Flips are nice but can be limiting, depending on what you want to do. I’d check out reviews or ratings for different camcorder brands that your interested in and make a decision from there.
